Major landforms of North America

Alaska Range: It extends from Alaska Peninsula to the border of the Yukon Territory, Canada. The Highest point is Mount McKinley, the second Mount Foraker and the third Mount Hunter.

Appalachian Mountains:These Mountains are gentle and low. They extend from central Alabama in the U.S., through the New England states and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Quebec.  The Appalachian Mountains contain major deposits of different types of coal.

Brooks Range:They are mountains of northern Alaska, and its highest point is Mt. Isto. This mountain range forms the northernmost drainage divide in North America, separating streams flowing into the Arctic Ocean and the North Pacific.

Canadian Shield:It is a plateau of northern and eastern Canada and the Great Lakes area of North America. The highest elevation is Mont d`lberville. It has rocky and rough surfaces, and large areas of forests. The Shield is one of the world's richest areas in terms of mineral ores. It is filled with substantial deposits of nickel, gold, silver, and copper.

Cascade:Is a mountain range from northeastern California across Oregon and Washington it presents massive snow-capped volcanoes. In the most important landforms are Mt. Hood, Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helens. Soil conditions for farming are generally good, especially downwind of volcanoes.

Coast Range:They are mountains running along the Pacific Ocean coastlines of California, Oregon, and Washington, but they also extend along the western border of British Columbia, Canada, and southern Alaska, all the way to Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak Island. The San Francisco Bay is the major landform. It has glaciers and rugged and scrub-covered hills.

Coastal Plain:Is an area of the southern and southeastern U.S that extends to continental shelf and it is characterized by its flat level land with forests, this coastal areas include swamps, marshes, bayous, mud flat, bayous. The coastal plain alongside the lower Mississippi River may be associated with a sea which had existed 6 thousand years ago.

Great Plains:They extend east from the Rockies and to the edge of the Canadian Shield and the western edges of the Appalachians. The Great Plains are a broad expanse of flat land, much of it covered in prairie, steppe and grassland

Rocky Mountains:They extend from Mexican frontier, up through the western United States, into Canada, and eastern Alaska. Much of the mountain range is protected by public parks and forest lands, and is a popular especially for hiking, camping, mountaineering, fishing, hunting, skiing, and snowboarding.

Sierra Nevada: Its highest point is Mt. Whitney; this mountain range is located at eastern California. The Sierra Nevada was home to several Native American tribes. The range was first sighted vada: by Pedro Fages

Sierra Madres: The Sierra Madres includes two major ranges, one is smaller than the other one, and they are: The Sierra Madre Occidental runs through Mexico Pacific Ocean, the other is Sierra Madre Oriental that runs parallel to its Gulf of Mexico coastline. The Sierra Madre del Sur is located in the southern Mexican States of Guerrero and Oaxaca. Its major landform is Cerro Potosí.
